Being kidnapped by the leader of the fae really puts a dent in your senior year.

Aurora Marshall is sharp, witty, and always has a plan. Ready to finish her business degree and graduate, her life is going smoothly—until the night she meets Tristan Westbrook.

Tristan, the overbearing, gorgeous fae leader, and an admired businessman in the human world, is all kinds of dangerous. While he finds Aurora intriguing, her refusal to bend to his will keeps them locked in a constant power struggle.

Entering into a deal is the only way to escape Tristan’s clutches, which only plunges Aurora deeper into the fae world. With her future at stake, she is forced to handle his arrogance and extraordinary fae abilities as she fights to stay grounded in her mundane life.

Not to mention her struggle to ignore the growing attraction she knows she shouldn’t feel for the man who kidnapped her.

When people said college would be the most exciting time of her life, Aurora never thought this is what they meant.

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

When I finished reading the first chapter of Twisted Fate, I knew I was reading something special. This book is a stunning debut. Jessi weaves romance and fantasy together so well and brings Urban Fantasy to an all new level. Twisted Fate didn’t feel like a debut novel, and for that Jessi deserves extra congratulations. Her debut is poignant, humorous, exhilarating and downright magical.

Jessi has amazing skill in creating three-dimensional characters that the readers eat right up. Aurora is a dazzling protagonist that keeps our attention throughout the entire book and makes us feel everything that she is feeling. Her development throughout the story is wonderfully done and I’m excited to see her continue to grow in book two. Tristan is another fantastic character that offers a nice contrast to Aurora. The Leader of the Fey is a handsome entrepreneur with a lot of badassery in the mix. The rest of the cast–namely, Skylar and Max– are also well constructed and a nice change from the typical “side characters” that tend to exist in the literary world. They are smart, sharp and developed to a point that they could have a story of their own!

The entire premise of “light fey” and “dark fey” is something that I totally dug and I loved the darkish twist that Jessi put on their energy/feeding source! This is a spoiler-free review so if you want to know how/what they consume– buy the book! The story in its entirety is compelling and fresh and everything I could have wanted. Let’s not forget to tip our hats to Jessi for also writing a New Adult Urban Fantasy! This is definitely an age range that is not typically as popular as its counterparts (namely, MG & YA), but Jessi proves that obstacles are something that she can overcome! (DID I MENTION THAT SHE BECAME AN AMAZON CANADA BESTSELLING AUTHOR YESTERDAY?! LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER HER BOOK BECAME AVAILABLE?!?!)

All in all, TWISTED FATE, is a spectacular debut. The romance was sizzling hot, the plot twists were plentiful, the emotions were poignant and heart-wrenching (YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID, JESSI!), the characters were well-developed and believable and the world was downright delectable.
